MARTINSVILLE – The Patrick Henry Community College bass fishing team landed in the top 15% this past weekend in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Eastern Tour event on Tennessee’s Cherokee Lake. Among 251 collegiate teams, PHCC finished 30th which nets them a spot in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Tournament.
The College Fishing event on Cherokee Lake was hosted by Bass Pro Shops and was the qualifying tournament for Eastern Conference anglers in 2018. PHCC’s top scoring team members, Dillon Bryant and Dustin Wagner brought in twelve fish that weighed 30 pounds 3 ounces.
The team is seeking funding support as the team members look to go to the national tournament in July. To donate or to find out more about the PHCC Bass Fishing team, contact Brian Henderson, Athletic Director at PHCC, at bhenderson@patrickhenry.edu
