The Danville Police Department is currently investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts that occurred late Tuesday evening, February 25, in the parking lot of the Danville Family YMCA, located in the 200 block of Riverside Drive.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the scene after multiple victims reported that their vehicle windows had been broken and personal items removed.
Surveillance footage from the area shows two males exiting a white SUV and examining several cars before breaking into the vehicles and taking items.
The vehicle was seen driving through the parking lot multiple times prior to the break-ins.
Authorities say the stolen credit cards were used shortly after the thefts in Guildford County, North Carolina. Investigators are working to determine if the same suspects are involved in other similar incidents in the region.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have shared an image of the white SUV in hopes that someone may have information that could help identify the individuals involved.
In light of the incident, the Danville Police Department is reminding residents to take extra precautions to secure their personal belongings when leaving their vehicles unattended.
Drivers are urged to lock their vehicles, remove any visible items from sight, and ensure their keys are safely stored away.
Anyone with information about the thefts or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area is encouraged to contact the Danville Police Department.
