Police pursuit in Henry County results in 2 arrests




HENRY COUNTY, VA – Two people were arrested by Virginia State Police when a Honda Civic crashed during a pursuit on Wednesday morning.


Shortly before 9 a.m. a state trooper tried to stop the Honda for several traffic violations, State Police Sergeant Dennis McBride told BTW21 News at the scene.

“The trooper attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle decided it did not want to stop and it fled from the trooper. The trooper gave pursuit through the Melrose Drive area of Henry County. It ultimately came down the bypass, got on Appalachian Drive here, it lost control when it tried to make a u-turn and struck the bank,” Sergeant McBride stated.


McBride said the vehicle had been reported to have been involved in several breaking-and-entering incidents in Henry and Franklin counties.


The driver, Cory Tionne Summers, 39 of Ferrum, was charged with felony elude police, misdemeanor reckless driving and misdemeanor drive revoked/suspended.

The passenger, Misty Nicole Coleman, 24 of Bassett, is facing charges of felony possess concealed weapon (Not firearm) and 3 counts of felony probation violation.


Bassett Rescue checked out both people, who were not hurt.
