HENRY COUNTY, VA – Five administrators have been named for the 2023-2024 school year in Henry County.
Dr. Luke Boone will serve as principal for Laurel Park Middle School.
Dr. Boone has served Henry County Public Schools students in various administrative roles and as a high school teacher.
He is currently principal at G.W. Carver Elementary School.
“...I am honored and excited to join the Laurel Park family and community. I look forward to working with Laurel Park’s wonderful faculty in continuing a tradition of excellence. Together, we will ensure that LPMS students are provided with engaging, rigorous, and relevant learning experiences that will help them become life ready individuals,” he said.
Robert “Bobby” Dalton will join Dr. Boone as assistant principal at Laurel Park.
Dalton has more than twenty-five years of experience working with students in Martinsville and Danville schools.
He has held positions as school counselor, alternative education teacher, assistant principal and principal at both the elementary and secondary levels.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Henry County Public Schools, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve the students, faculty and staff at Laurel Park Middle School,” Dalton stated.
Amy Garrett has been named assistant principal at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School.
Garrett had worked for HCPS since 1998, serving as an elementary and middle school teacher before being named assistant principal at Laurel Park Middle School in 2022.
Garrett said, “I am honored to be joining the Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School family. I am excited about collaborating with the Cavalier community to continue preparing our students to be lifelong learners and look forward to helping them grow in a safe and engaging learning environment."
Kimberly Foley will be the new principal of G.W. Carver Elementary.
Foley has nineteen years of experience as an educator and has served as an elementary teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and elementary principal.
She currently serves as principal at Forest Hills Global Elementary in Wilmington, North Carolina.
“As a former Henry County Schools' student and graduate, I am excited to rejoin this amazing community as the Principal of G.W. Carver Elementary School and to continue the tradition of excellence,” she said. “I look forward to building relationships and a culture of high expectations with staff, students, and the community.”
Eric Ross will work with Foley as assistant principal at G.W. Carver Elementary.
Ross has served students in the county since 2008.
A former special education teacher, he is currently assistant principal at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School.
“I am excited to be a part of the G.W. Carver family as the assistant principal. I look forward to building positive relationships with the community to continue to support students as they grow and excel academically and to the great things that Carver will accomplish as we work to put students first.”
