FRANKLIN COUNTY – A 73-year-old man was found dead in Philpott Lake after he was reported missing Tuesday.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says Coleman Hale was reported missing around 10 AM.
Hale went fishing around 6:30 AM Monday and didn't return home, according to the sheriff's office.
Crews located his truck and boat trailer at Ryan's Branch Park Tuesday morning.
Around 12 PM, Hale's boat was found in the lake about two miles from the dock.
Authorities say he was found dead in the water a few hours later near his boat.
At this point, investigators believe there is nothing suspicious about Coleman Hale's death and his body has been taken to a forensic lab for examination.
The sheriff's office, department of public safety, Henry County Sheriff's Office, Patrick County Sheriff's Office, Philpott Lake Corps of Engineers and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries helped search for Hale.

FRANKLIN COUNTY – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who went missing on Philpott Lake.
Early Tuesday, family members of the missing man notified the sheriff's office that they could not locate him.
The man who went missing has not yet been publicly identified.
