The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025, in the 2100 block of Yellow Mountain Road SE.
At approximately 5:13 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a woman suffering from significant injuries.
Despite efforts to provide aid, she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
A short time after the discovery of the victim, a male suspect was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved as the investigation continues.
As part of the ongoing investigation, 22nd Street SE has been closed between Stanley Avenue and Jefferson Street.
