
A Roanoke woman has been charged with murder after a man was found fatally stabbed inside a residence on Syracuse Avenue NW on Tuesday night.
According to the Roanoke Police Department (RPD), officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Syracuse Avenue NW around 8:30 p.m. following a report of someone armed with a weapon.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 67-year-old Richard Lee Webb inside a home with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Webb was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police department identified the suspect as 40-year-old Timia Emily-Janette Williams, who was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Authorities confirmed that Webb and Williams knew each other, though they did not provide any details about what led to the violent altercation.
“Our initial investigation suggests that the two were familiar with one another, but the circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation,” stated a spokesperson for the Roanoke Police Department.
At this time, the motive for the attack remains unclear, and the police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
Williams is currently being held in custody, and her case is under active investigation.
The Roanoke community is in shock over the senseless violence, as authorities continue to seek answers regarding the tragic incident.
