The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a serious domestic disturbance that occurred on September 18, 2024. The altercation involved Richard John Smith and his wife, Jeanie Hawks Smith.
Incident Overview:
During the dispute, Richard allegedly brandished a firearm, threatening both Jeanie and her brother, Jimmy Hawks.
Reports indicate that Richard discharged the firearm, preventing Jeanie and Jimmy from leaving the room. He also demanded Jeanie’s cell phone, threatening her life if she did not comply.
After about thirty minutes, Jeanie and Jimmy managed to escape and contacted law enforcement.
