Six people displaced after house fire in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A house fire prompted a large response from Henry and Patrick counties firefighters Wednesday afternoon.

The fire happened at a home on Candyland Drive in Henry County.

Six people were displaced and the American Red Cross was called, according to Vernon Nelson, Fire Police with the Patrick-Henry Volunteer Fire Department

The property owner did have insurance, Henry County Assistant Fire Marshal Kiah Cooper told BTW21 News. It looks like the cause was from a wood stove. The scene has been released to the insurance company and they will be handling the rest from here.

Volunteer fire department from Bassett, Horsepasture, Fairystone, and Patrick Springs also responded.

Henry County Public Safety, Patrick County Fire and EMS and the Patrick County Sheriff's Office assisted.
