Stanleytown man arrested after 2K fentanyl pills and stolen gun found during traffic stop

AMHERST COUNTY, VA – A Henry County man was arrested after deputies found drugs and a stolen gun during a traffic stop in Amherst County on Tuesday.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office said they made the traffic stop around 6:40 p.m. on Route 29.

The stop led to the seizure of 2,000 pressed fentanyl pills, several ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, and a loaded .380 caliber, semi-automatic handgun, which was stolen out of Martinsville.

The driver, 34-year-old Quinn Lamar Hairston, of Henry Street in Stanleytown, was charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl

  • Felony possession of psilocybin

  • Possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon

  • Possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I/II substance

  • Possession of a stolen firearm

  • Driving while suspended

Later that night, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant at Hairston's home.

During the search, an additional large quantity of suspected pressed fentanyl pills, about 1,000 rounds of ammunition and additional controlled substances were seized, according to Sheriff Wayne Davis.

Hairston is held without bond at the Amherst County Adult Detention Center.

Sheriff Davis said his office will be issuing additional charges on Hairston for the drug bust.

This investigation is ongoing.
