Stolen Vehicle Investigation Underway in Bedford County

Bedford County, VA - (BTW21) The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating a stolen vehicle and identifying the suspect responsible for the theft.


On Monday, deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Camper's Paradise Trail in Moneta, where the owner of the vehicle reported that it had been stolen on Sunday at approximately 7:00 a.m.


According to the sheriff's office, the stolen vehicle is a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 shortbed, blue in color, with a silver toolbox, and bearing Virginia license plate number URA-6631.


Deputies have obtained surveillance footage that shows an unknown white male getting into the vehicle and driving off. The suspect was dropped off at the scene by a vehicle that appears to be a white Ford F-450 or 550 dump truck.


The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information about the stolen vehicle or the suspect to come forward. Deputy T. Burnette is leading the investigation and can be contacted at 540.586.7827.


Additionally, tips can be submitted to Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900 or online through their website.


Tips can also be submitted using the P3TIPS app on mobile devices.


Crime Stoppers callers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00 for information that leads to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the identification of the suspect.


The sheriff's office is asking residents in the area to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle and to report any sightings to the authorities.


By working together, the community can help to solve this case and bring the perpetrator to justice.
