BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) — Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with a narcotics investigation that took place Wednesday in Botetourt County.
The arrests were made after the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) executed search warrants at two separate locations—one in the Cloverdale area and the other in the Town of Buchanan.
The operation began early in the morning when deputies responded to West Cleo Lane in Cloverdale around 8:30 a.m. to serve a search warrant.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered a firearm and suspected narcotics.
Two men were arrested during the operation, both facing serious charges.
The suspects were identified as:
Chad Allen Nichols (43) of Roanoke, Virginia
Joseph Edward Davis (24) of Roanoke, Virginia
Nichols and Davis have been charged with possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both men are currently being held without bond at the Botetourt-Craig Regional Jail.
Later in the day, around 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to 13th Street in Buchanan to execute another search warrant.
This time, authorities were searching for narcotics and firearms. During the operation, detectives recovered suspected narcotics, which have been sent to a lab for identification.
The suspect at this location was identified as:
Mary Lynn Southers (38) of Buchanan, Virginia
Southers was arrested for an outstanding indictment for possession of Schedule I or II narcotics.
She is being held in the Botetourt-Craig Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. BCSO officials have stated that additional charges may be filed depending on the results of the lab analysis.
The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the narcotics operation, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
