
Rocky Mount, VA – A 54-year-old man was found deceased inside an empty industrial compactor container in Rocky Mount on Tuesday afternoon, sparking an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
At approximately 4:10 p.m., Rocky Mount Police and Franklin County Public Safety responded to a report of an unresponsive individual at Ply Gem/Cornerstone Building Brands located on North Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of Shehta M. Sokr, a resident of Rocky Mount, inside the industrial container, which was situated in a side lot of the facility and was not in use at the time.
The container, which had been idle, was found to be empty except for the tragic discovery of Sokr’s body.
Authorities have confirmed that after conducting an on-site investigation, there were no immediate signs of foul play.
While no criminal actions are suspected at this time, the incident remains under investigation.
The case has been forwarded to the regional medical examiner’s office for a more thorough forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Rocky Mount Police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
