A major drug bust unfolded in Martinsville, Virginia, on February 18, 2025, after members of the Martinsville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, along with a Special Agent from the Virginia State Police, executed search warrants at two locations in the city.

The warrants were obtained as part of an investigation into the illegal distribution of cocaine by residents working together to distribute the narcotic.

The search took place at two properties: an apartment located at 1055 Rives Road and a residence at 1705 Spruce Street Extension.

Simultaneous raids were carried out by the Martinsville Police SWAT Team at the Rives Road apartment and the Henry County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team at the Spruce Street Extension location.

During the operation, law enforcement officials seized over 1.3 kilograms of cocaine, three firearms, and more than $6,000 in cash. The seizures highlight the significant scale of the drug operation that was taking place within the community.

As a result of the investigation, Samuel Keister Hairston, a 37-year-old resident of Spruce Street Extension, was arrested.

Hairston faces several serious charges, including possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute (second offense), possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal narcotics, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Additionally, authorities have issued arrest warrants for 35-year-old Christopher Orlando Martin of Rives Road, charging him with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine (third offense).

Police are actively searching for Martin and are urging the public to come forward with any information that may help locate him.

Lieutenant Eric Eggleston of the Martinsville Police Department is leading the investigation.

Anyone with information related to the case or Martin’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Lt. Eggleston at 276-403-5300, 276-638-8751, or anonymously through the Crime Stoppers tip line at 276-63CRIME (276-632-7463).

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to Martin’s arrest.

The Martinsville Police Department expressed their gratitude to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police for their continued partnership in tackling crime in the area.

This significant bust highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Martinsville to combat the spread of illegal drugs and ensure the safety of the community.
