Two Arrested in Pittsylvania County for Child Pornography Charges

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – (BTW21)Two individuals were taken into custody on Friday, April 4, following an extensive investigation by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrests stem from a lengthy probe conducted by the Cybercrimes and Special Investigations Division.
Jonathan DeWane Butler, a 22-year-old resident of Chatham, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Additionally, he faces charges of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography, which is classified as a Class 6 felony.
Butler’s charges have been certified to the next Grand Jury for further consideration.
Shawn Douglas Jones, a 32-year-old from Blairs, was also arrested and charged with 15 counts of possession of child pornography.
Similar to Butler, Jones faces charges of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography.
Jones remains in jail without bond, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 14, 2025, at the Pittsylvania County General District Court.
The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child pornography.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized the importance of such investigations in protecting vulnerable individuals and maintaining public safety.
Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
