Two mothers arrested for leaving children in vehicle while inside gaming establishment

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, NC – Two mothers were arrested for child abuse after they left their children inside a vehicle while patronizing gaming establishment.


On Sunday at around 1 a.m., deputies arrested 23-year-old Keyarra Symone Hairston of Martinsville, VA and 40-year-old Claudia Denise White of Danville, VA each on one count of misdemeanor child abuse.


Upon arrival at 220 Internet Cafe located in Stoneville, NC, deputies say they located a vehicle with two children inside.


According the Rockingham County, NC Sheriff's Office, the engine was off and the hood was cold to the deputies' touch.


Authorities say they learned that the women, each mother to one of the children, had been inside the gaming establishment for two to three hours while their children were left unattended in the vehicle.


Hairston and White were each placed in the Rockingham County, NC Detention Facility under a $20,000 secured bond.


They are both scheduled to appear in court on April 2nd.
