FIELDALE, VA – Two men were flown to the hospital following a shooting in Fieldale on Monday.
Henry County deputies responded to Roberts Bestway, 1706 Dillons Fork Road, after getting a call at 4:06 p.m. that a man there had an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies say they found Joshua Terrance Canty, 33, of 485 George Bateman Drive in Ridgeway, who had been shot in the leg.
Canty told deputies that there had been an altercation with another man at a mobile home located at 2234 John Baker Road.
The two men started to argue and the other man shot Canty in the leg, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies went to the mobile home and say they found George Robert Stephens, 38, of 1608 Rivermont Heights in Martinsville, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and neck.
Both men were airlifted to a nearby hospital in Virginia.
Authorities said Canty is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while Stephens is currently listed as stable, but in critical condition.
The relationship between men and the cause of the altercation is not known at this time since both have not been cooperative with the investigation, the sheriff's office said.
