ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va.
The Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday, October 17, at 10:30 p.m. on Route 60, near the intersection of Westley Chapel Road in Rockbridge County.
A 2008 Buick Lucerne veered off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, and then rolled over several times down an embankment.
The driver, identified as 75-year-old John Edward Nelson Young of Staunton, Virginia, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
He sustained injuries and was transported to Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
