Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) – Virginia State Police are investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Roanoke man on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.


The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Route 220, approximately one-half mile south of Buhrman Road in Botetourt County.


According to authorities, a 2000 Ford F-750 truck was traveling northbound on Route 220 when a piece of the truck’s braking system detached and struck a 2023 Hyundai Kona traveling southbound.


The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Chad Hunter Ferguson, 44, of Roanoke, Virginia, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.


Despite efforts to save him, Mr. Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene.


The Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and charges are pending.


The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to determine the full extent of the situation.


As the community mourns this devastating loss, authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
