Virginia State Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Christiansburg

At the request of the Christiansburg Police Department, the Virginia State Police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Salem Field Office, is conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on September 20, 2024.


The Christiansburg Police Department has issued an informational release detailing the circumstances leading up to the incident.


The male suspect involved in the shooting is deceased, and law enforcement is currently working to confirm his identity.


Fortunately, no officers were injured during the incident.


The Virginia State Police will provide no further comments regarding the investigation until the suspect has been identified.


Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney's Office for review and potential adjudication.

UPDATE

 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Western District, has identified the suspect in the September 20, 2024, Christiansburg Police Officer Involved Shooting as Ronald Allen Troskoski.  


Troskoski was 31 years of age, and his last known address was listed in Huntingdon, Pa.


Troskoski fled from officers September 20th and was shot after producing a weapon. 


He was wanted in York County Pa, and Montgomery County, Va. on multiple charges.  


At the conclusion of the investigation, the Virginia State Police will turnover the investigative file to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney's Office for adjudication.


The Virginia State Police will have no further comment on the investigation.
