Virginia State Police Pursuit Ends in Serious Crash in Roanoke

SALEM, Va.

 

Early this morning at 12:10 a.m., a Virginia State Police Trooper spotted a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle speeding south on Interstate 581 at 115 mph.


The trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull over the motorcycle, but the rider, identified as 46-year-old Chad Cicero Waldron from Check, Va., refused to stop.


Waldron exited the interstate onto Orange Avenue and continued toward Melrose, reaching speeds of 120 mph.


The motorcycle then entered the City of Salem on Electric Road, where Waldron lost control and crashed.


Waldron, who was wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He is currently on life support.


The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team has been called in to assist with the investigation. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
