Virginia Tech Football Player Charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs

A newly committed Virginia Tech football player has found himself in legal trouble after being arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.

Jordan Bass, a linebacker who recently transferred to the Hokies from the University of Pittsburgh, is facing misdemeanor charges for DWI (drugs) and possession of marijuana.

According to court records, Bass was taken into custody by Blacksburg Police on January 19th.

He was later released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment in early February.

Bass, a native of Virginia Beach, had only just committed to playing for the Hokies earlier this month.

His arrest has prompted a response from the university's athletics department, which released a statement saying that they are aware of the incident and will abide by university policy until the legal process is complete.

The statement read: "Virginia Tech is aware of an incident involving football student-athlete Jordan Bass. As this is a legal matter, we will abide by university policy and have no further comment until the process is complete."

As Bass navigates the legal system, his future with the Virginia Tech football team remains uncertain.

The university's policy on student-athlete conduct will likely play a role in determining any potential disciplinary actions or consequences for Bass.

For now, however, the focus remains on the ongoing legal proceedings and their outcome.
