Warrants Reveal Details in Appomattox and Campbell County Arson Cases

Ashley Inesta

Authorities have released new details surrounding three fires that were intentionally set across Appomattox and Campbell counties, with a suspect now in custody.

Ashley Inesta faces multiple charges, including two felony counts of arson, connected to fires in the two counties, as well as charges in Lynchburg related to a stolen vehicle.

According to investigators, the first fire occurred in September 2024 at a home in Campbell County. The second incident took place in November, when Inesta allegedly set her former residence in Appomattox County ablaze.

In the latest incident this January, Inesta is accused of returning to the initial Campbell County property and setting a fence on fire.

Warrants state that she admitted to using an apron and a lighter to ignite the flames.

Appomattox County Sheriff Robert Richardson noted that early observations raised red flags.

"Once on scene, there was some suspicious stuff that was there that seemed like there was more to it than just an accidental fire," Richardson said.

Court documents also reveal a connection between the fires and a stolen car.

Earlier this month, Lynchburg Police were searching for a vehicle reported stolen. They found the car at Inesta's new residence on Adammay Lane, along with evidence suggesting she used it to travel to the Campbell County property to start the January fire.

Sheriff Richardson credited the collaborative efforts of law enforcement in Appomattox, Campbell County, and Lynchburg for bringing the case to a swift resolution.

"Without that relationship, we probably would still be working on this case right now. We wouldn't know what was going on in Campbell County," Richardson explained.

Inesta is currently facing charges in each jurisdiction, including felony arson and a misdemeanor.

Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Lynchburg and Campbell County next month.

This case remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the full extent of Inesta’s actions.
