
 A 35-year-old woman from Nathalie has been arrested and charged after allegedly wounding her husband during a shooting incident on Saturday night, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the Halifax Police Department, responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting on Beaver Pond Road in Nathalie.
Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark stated that the victim, who has not been identified, told authorities that he had been shot by his wife.
The injuries, while serious, were not believed to be life-threatening
North Halifax Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene to assist.
Following a thorough investigation, deputies arrested Victoria Annette Jenkins, the victim’s wife, on several charges related to the shooting. She now faces multiple felony charges, including:
Attempted second-degree murder
Brandishing a firearm
Reckless handling of a firearm
Possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony
Malicious wounding
Sheriff Clark emphasized that the incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute, and there is no indication that the situation poses a wider threat to the community.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene by deploying a K-9 unit trained in firearm detection.
Authorities later discovered a .22-caliber rifle approximately 150 yards from the residence, hidden in a brush pile. It is believed that this weapon was used in the shooting.
Jenkins has been taken to Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where she is being held without bond.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
