Woman dies in Collinsville house fire




COLLINSVILLE, VA – Henry County officials are investigating the cause of a fatal fire that occurred Friday on Haverline Hill Road in Collinsville.


Crews from the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department and Fieldale Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched around 1 p.m. for a smoke investigation.


The volunteers identified the source of the smoke to be a structure fire on 180 Haverline Hill Road.


After the incident was reported the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center, additional personnel from the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department, the Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department, Fieldale Volunteer Fire Department, Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgeway Fire Department, Fieldale-Collinsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Henry County Department of Public Safety responded to the fire.


The fire was secluded to one end of a one-story brick home.


Once the owner of the home was contacted, the individual notified officials that a family member could still be inside the home.


As soon as the scene was safe to enter, the fire crews located the body of a deceased person.


The medical examiners officer has been contacted and the body has been released to officials for identification.
