Woman struck, killed while walking onto Route 220 after crash


FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – A woman who walked onto Route 220 in Franklin County after a crash was killed when she was hit by a vehicle early Friday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu going south on Route 220 just north of Bonbrook Mill Road ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned around 2:25 a.m.


The driver of the Chevrolet got out of the vehicle and was hit by a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta that was also traveling south on Route 220, state police said.

The Chevrolet driver, who was identified as 25-year-old Lauren Virginia Davis, of Roanoke, died at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured and no charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
